We just had my daughter's birthday party this past weekend and before I show you all the pictures of the cake and different things that I made I thought I would first show you pictures of what I did for her last birthday party. I recently showed pictures of what I did for my son's Hot Wheel's/race car birthday party. So now I will show my daughter's last party, a Rapunzel/Tangled party. So I wanted to make at least part of her cake and I got the idea from a friend who made one for her daughter. I made the tower that Rapunzel lives in by the water in Tangled. I used marshmallow treats for the tower itself and then I put an ice cream cone on the top for the roof. Then I covered in Wilton's Whipped Icing mix and decorated with flowers and vine looking stuff that goes up the tower in the movie. I think it turned out pretty well.

I didn't put it on the cake until that morning because I didn't want the weight of it to squash the sheet cake. We bought a sheet cake at Kroger that had a stream of water on one side like in the movie and a couple of bushes. I put spotted gray jelly beans in the water to look like rocks. But you can't see them too well.

Me and my husband also made her a dollhouse out of half a bookcase. Put plywood in the middle to section off the rooms. Covered the walls and floors with scrapbook paper. Printed out pictures from the internet and framed them with colored paper.

The bedroom
Printed out pictures of dressers and nightstands and glued them to cardboard that we made into squares or rectangles and covered with white computer paper for the bedroom. Printed out a picture of a window and glued above the dresser. For the bed I used the top part of the package that my razors came in. I covered it with stuffing, and hot glued fabric down for the bottom sheet. Cut two pieces of matching fabric and glued them together with fabric glue for the covers. Then cut a small piece of fabric and covered some foam for the pillow.

The bathroom

We couldn't figure out how best to make the bathroom furniture so we just bought dollhouse furniture for the bathroom at Toys R' Us. Then just glued framed pictures throughout. Glued a picture of a stained glass window to go above the tub. And glued two pictures of bathroom shelves next to tub.

The living room

For the living room I just got a picture from the internet of a fireplace and glued it on the scrapbook papered wall. I found a tutorial on you-tube on how to make a couch and chairs out of cardboard. Then I just covered them in fabric and glued beads on the bottom to make legs. We bought the cabinet thing at Michael's for $1. We bought the tv at A.C. Moore in the dollhouse section and put a printed out picture of a tv stand on the top of a ring box. For the plant I just got the bottom part of a small bubbles container and put a clipped off small piece of foliage. And cut a square piece of scrapbook paper for the rug in front of couch. And since her party was a Rapunzel theme I got a picture of  the painting that Rapunzel painted in the tower.

The kitchen
Cut cardboard and glued together to make the shape of a refrigerator, and for the stove and dishwasher area. I printed out a picture of a refrigerator and glued it on. I cut out a picture of a stove and glued that on. For the top of the stove I glued on a square piece of aluminum foil and then glued on round pieces of black consruction paper. I drew on the drawers and glued small red beads onto it for the knobs. We bought a microwave and toaster in the dollhouse section at A.C. Moore. I glued a picture of a dishwasher onto the other one next to the sink. I drew on the drawers on this one as well and glued small red beads for knobs. For the sink I carved out two small rectangle shapes, covered with aluminum foil and then for the faucet I hole punched a hole (before I glued everything together) and then I cut off the top piece of a bendy straw and put into the hole. We also bought the table and chairs in the dollhouse section. As for the top shelving section, I just again drew on the cabinets and glued red beads for knobs and glued on a picture of shelves with a plant onto the middle part. And there you have it, a dollhouse! :)
